I had a very pleasant surprise in May, 2025 when I got an email from the Governor-General’s Office – I had been nominated for the King Charles III Coronation Medal for public service. It was specifically for achievements during my career in education, recognition of my volunteerism, and engagement in The Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) military family. That email certainly made my day! Only 30,000 Canadians were eligible to receive the Coronation medal, so it was certainly a rare honour, one that I was proud to accept.
On Saturday, June 14, 2025, London Centre MP Peter Fragiskatos presented me with the Coronation Medal. It was a really nice way to mark the Father’s Day weekend, with my partner Anna-Marie Duffy and our family (Josh, Jean, and Sophia) watching me accept the medal. My gratitude level certainly went up a few notches!
